Yao Ming, male, Han nationality, non-partisan, was born in Xuhui District, Shanghai on September 12, 1980. He is a native of Zhenze Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. He is a former Chinese professional basketball player and a center. Chairman of the conference, chairman of the China Basketball Association, chairman and general manager of the China National Association, and winner of the reform pioneer medal.
In April 1998, Yao Ming was selected as the national team coached by Wang Fei and began his basketball career. In 2001, he won the CBA regular season MVP. In 2002, he won the CBA championship and the finals MVP. He was elected CBA rebounding champion and capping champion three times, and was elected as the CBA dunk king twice. In the 2002 NBA Draft, he was selected by the NBA's Houston Rockets as the No. 1 pick. In 2003-09, he was selected to the NBA All-Star team for six consecutive seasons (eight times in his career) and was selected to the NBA All-NBA Second Team twice. Three times in the NBA's best lineup. In 2009, Yao Ming acquired the Shanghai Men's Basketball Team and became the owner of the Shanghai Sharks Basketball Club. On July 20, 2011, Yao Ming officially announced his retirement.
In 2013, Yao Ming was elected as a member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. On February 10, 2015, Yao Ming officially became one of the ambassadors of Beijing's bid to host the Winter Olympics. On April 4th, 2016, Yao Ming was officially selected as the 2016 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Chinese to receive this honor. In October, Yao Ming became China's "Mars Ambassador." In November, he was elected vice chairman of CBA.
